Appearing via videolink under his full name – Kevin Spacey Fowler – the two-time Oscar winner wore a pink tie, a light blue shirt and black blazer for Friday’s hearing.

The 63-year-old spoke to formally enter his pleas to the charges relating to a new complainant.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2001 and 2005, and include three of indecent assault, three of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

A pre-trial review will take place on 5 April.

He was artistic director at the Old Vic between 2004 and 2015.
