Former Prime Minister Liz Truss has said she was never given a “realistic chance” to implement her plans for a low-tax economy.

Ms Truss released a 4,000-word essay in the Telegraph, revealing what she had wanted to achieve as PM and why she thought her political vision had ultimately failed.

Responding to the article, Business Secretary Grant Shapps said the short-lived PM had the right priorities but failed as she did not deal with the “big structural issues” first.
