A woman found dead near a community centre in southeast London has been named as a 28-year-old primary school teacher.
Sabina Nessa’s body was found near the OneSpace venue in Kidbrooke Park Road, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, on Saturday, the Metropolitan Police said.
The force said a post-mortem carried out on Monday was inconclusive, and Ms Nessa’s family have been told.
Officers believe the attack on Ms Nessa, who was from Kidbrooke, may have happened on Friday night.
A man in his 40s arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries, police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Joe Garrity, leading the investigation, said: “Our initial enquiries suggest that this attack happened at around 8.30pm on Friday, 17 September, a time when the park was likely being used by many people from dog walkers to joggers.
“Sabina was found near the OneSpace community centre, which we know is a facility used by lots of people, and we would ask anyone who was in or around the area and who may have any information to come forward.”
He urged anyone who might have been in the park around the time of the incident and seen someone acting suspiciously to contact the police.
Ms Nessa has been remembered as “kind, caring and absolutely dedicated to her pupils” by Lisa Williams, head of Rushey Green Primary School, where she worked in Lewisham.
The headmistress said the school has been “devastated” by the death of a “brilliant” teacher.
Mrs Williams added: “She had so much life ahead of her and so much more to give, and her loss is desperately sad.
“As a school, we are supporting each other through this very difficult time, and we will be providing specialist support to those who need it.”
The suspected murder was previously described as a “shocking incident” by Scotland Yard.
A number of crime scenes are in place and enquiries are ongoing.
